Open Source Vehicle Model

Customer Delivery

Summer interns in our Customer Delivery organization explored alternative simulation frameworks for vehicle modeling in our functional testing pipeline. The existing Simulink-based model was found to be difficult to maintain. The interns evaluated Project Chrono, an open-source physics engine, as a potential replacement. They set up and compiled the simulator, configured a suitable vehicle model, and explored methods to generate virtual sensors and extract relevant signals. Their work focused on creating a more efficient and maintainable simulation framework that could integrate with the existing testing environment, ultimately improving the system's ability to simulate and test vehicle behaviors.
