Looking Back at 2024 – A year of Growth, Innovation, and Milestones

Written by Lisa Åbom | Jan 22, 2025

As one year has ended and another one has just gotten started, it’s time to reflect on what we have achieved and look ahead to the future. 2024 has been an extraordinary and busy year for NIRA Dynamics, filled with innovation, expansion, and key milestones.

A record-breaking start to the year

We kicked off 2024 in a spectacular way as our Tire Pressure Indicator (TPI) surpassed the 100 million mark. Since its launch in 2006, TPI has been installed in over 100 million vehicles from more than 45 different brands. By replacing physical sensors with software, we have eliminated electronic waste equivalent to 4.5 Eiffel Towers and reduced CO₂ emissions by 78,000 tonnes over the lifetime of these cars. A powerful testament to how software can drive efficiency, sustainability, and smarter mobility.

Bringing new innovations to market

This year, we successfully launched three new products:

TPI UX – A next-generation indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS), designed with the driver in mind. With visualized tire status, percentage display, critical puncture warnings, and easy reset, this product enhances safety, usability, and driver confidence. The reception was overwhelming, and we went from launch to our first live customer, GAC Aion, in less than six months.

Road Insights – A major evolution of our Road Surface Insights product, designed to improve user experience and scalability while laying the foundation for future growth.

Road Safety – The first application of this new product focuses on evaluating road markings for the German Autobahn, ensuring higher safety standards and better-maintained road infrastructure.

Expanding our global presence

We took a major step forward as a company by opening two new company branches:

NIRA Japan – Strengthening our commitment to the Japanese market, where we have been present since 2018.

NIRA USA – A natural expansion driven by the rapid growth of our infrastructure business in North America. This year alone, we successfully conducted the Aurora project, collaborating with 19 U.S. states to explore how connected vehicle data can improve winter road maintenance.

A moment to celebrate together

One of the most memorable moments of the year was when all NIRA employees gathered for an extraordinary company trip. We spent three incredible days at Ystad Havsbad, focusing on innovation, our product portfolio, and company values. We also took the time to celebrate 100 million TPI licenses with an unforgettable Great Gatsby-themed party—a well-earned celebration of everyone’s contributions to NIRA’s success.

A year of impact and engagement

Beyond our product launches and global expansion, 2024 was also a year of strong execution and engagement:
100+ project deliveries to customers.
300,000 km of vehicle testing completed.
20+ innovation sprints driving new ideas forward.
Active participation in student events to inspire the next generation of talent.
22 new colleagues onboarded to strengthen our team.
5 diploma theses supervised, supporting academic collaboration.
81 out of 100 in our employee motivation rating, reflecting our strong company culture.

Looking ahead in 2025

Winter holidays gave us a lot of time to pause, reflect, and recharge. Personally, my Christmas wish was, as every year, to have peace and quiet with my family and loved ones. But in a year like this, the word “peace” carries a very different meaning—with so many parts of the world facing conflict and suffering. We truly hope a change is coming as we move into 2025.

As we are now getting up to full speed after winter holidays, I want to start by saying thank you to all our customers, partners, and colleagues for making 2024 such an incredible year. We look forward to continuing this journey together in 2025!
