Gunilla Hammarberg Shares Her Insights From NIRA Dynamics

" I’ve had countless opportunities to take on new challenges, and advance in my career at NIRA. We make the most of each other's strengths, and we have fun while doing it."

– Gunilla Hammarberg, Chief Product Officer

A Dynamic Journey at NIRA

My journey at NIRA began in 2019 as the Operational Lead for Vehicle Onboard Analytics, overseeing a significant portion of our customer portfolio. As my first assignment, I was appointed interim team leader for our operations in China—a fast-paced, exciting start with a young and motivated team.

Following that, I continued as Operational Lead, where I worked on transformation projects and client relations. The role was diverse, covering areas like sales, product management, and continuous improvement. In 2021, during a major company reorganization, I was given the opportunity to step in as interim Business Unit Manager. Since then, I led the Customer Delivery department until earlier this year when I was offered the position of CPO. It’s been a journey full of learning and growth, and I’m excited for the new challenges this role will bring.

What Attracted Me to NIRA

I first became aware of NIRA through my previous work at SAAB, where the company had a reputation for technical expertise and flexibility. I was particularly drawn to the operational role at NIRA, where I could work with large, global customers. The opportunity to work at a smaller company with established products on a global scale, as opposed to focusing solely on new developments, was also appealing.

NIRA has offered me, as well as many others here, a unique opportunity to grow. I started with limited knowledge of the products, but over time, I’ve developed and taken on several exciting roles. It really feels like my skills and expertise are valued and put to good use here.

A Fast-Paced, Solution-Oriented Culture

One of the aspects I appreciate most about NIRA is the company culture. We highly value technical expertise and continuously strive to stay at the forefront of our industry. At the same time, we foster a supportive, collaborative environment where colleagues help each other, creating a dynamic and enjoyable workplace. Bureaucracy is minimal, and we’re quick to make necessary changes, which allows us to be flexible and innovative in our work.

A Bright Future Ahead

I am optimistic about NIRA’s future. I’m looking forward to continuing my career within product management and seeing what we can achieve with the new products we’re currently working on. NIRA is a company with big ambitions and the ability to adapt to market needs while driving technological progress. Innovation remains at the heart of what we do, and I’m excited to see how we’ll continue to redefine the market, with new products as well as our world-leading Tire Pressure Indicator. I’m also eager to explore how we’ll integrate AI into our future work.

A Leadership Built on Trust and Responsibility

In my leadership role, I follow a few key principles:

- We help each other. By tapping into each other’s strengths, we can achieve better outcomes.

- We are adults. At NIRA, we take responsibility for our actions and don’t always need to ask for permission. Use your expertise, discuss with your colleagues or manager—here, rigid hierarchies don’t stand in the way.

- Rules exist for a reason. Our processes and routines are in place to support our work. If they aren’t working, we discuss how to improve them together. Transparency and open communication are key. We follow the rules, and if they don’t serve us, we change them.

A Workplace Where You Can Grow and Make a Difference

If you’re considering applying for a role at NIRA, I would say it’s a fantastic company where you have the opportunity to grow and collaborate closely with your colleagues. Each department has its own distinct character, and there’s always room to explore new roles or challenges internally. The collaborative culture here is strong, and we support each other no matter the role. It’s a workplace where you can develop new skills, grow professionally, and genuinely make a difference.
